I’m a 31 year old Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and have served in interim ministry since my ordination June 2014. In October 2015 I was called to a delightful church in suburban York, PA. I begin serving the community with them on November 23rd and couldn’t be happier with where God has led me.
The office of “Pastor” has different meanings in different denominations in our culture today. What do I consider myself as a minister of Word and Sacrament in Christ’s Church? I’m a: Shepherdess, Prophet (meaning I speak out against oppression and work for God’s kingdom), Story teller, Story holder, Grace spreader, Radical Welcomer, Inclusive church crusader, Seed sower, Sin forgiver, Water splasher/dunker, Sheep feeder, Waitress at Christ’s table, Servant, Saint, Sinner, Empowerer, Child of the Living God…. the list really never ends, but you get the idea.
I’m also known at home as “Pastor Mommy” to my exuberant, sensitive, empathetic, and hilarious 3 1/2 year old son, and my fiery, impish, also hilarious, Queen of the household, 1 1/2 year old daughter. They are total BFFs and PICs. My husband -who is seriously amazing and probably the greatest gift God could have ever given me- is still in school, preparing for a vocation in ministry, and when not in class stays home with our little angels (who are sometimes more like little tornadoes). Life is hard at times -especially with no family nearby- but our home is always full of love and laughter and we thank God for that.
